The Aurora Borealis (“Northern Lights”) from central Edinburgh. 1 January 2016.

In the early hours of this morning, the aurora was visible across Scotland, to welcome the New Year.

I saw it dimly from central Edinburgh, and took these photographs which capture it better. Had it not been the after-effects of Hogmanay celebrations, I’d have driven away from the city lights. Next time, perhaps.
