This took place a while ago, and there have been pictures all over the internet since the night itself; but not mine: my suicidal computer stopped me processing until now. So here’s my cotribution.
In the early hours of this morning, the aurora was visible across Scotland, to welcome the New Year.
I saw it dimly from central Edinburgh, and took these photographs which capture it better. Had it not been the after-effects of Hogmanay celebrations, I’d have driven away from the city lights. Next time, perhaps.
I didn’t like the “Street of Light” in the Royal Mile: brash and commercial, and it made nothing of the historic environment in which it had been placed. But it was very photogenic.
